Can you believe we're already into February? Almost 2 full months into the New Year and unfortunately most folks around you have already given up on their resolutions and forgotten about what they wanted to improve in their lives this year. Hey, anybody can talk about changing his or her life, but we all know that keeping those goals in focus while staying persistent about changing our thoughts, behaviors, and habits over time isn't easy! And without a burning desire to accomplish them... it's virtually impossible with a good Tulsa Personal Trainer. One of the secrets I use to continue improving each year is that I take some time to perform an annual review. I find a quiet spot, along with a pen and paper, and I answer a few questions while writing down my thoughts about the past year. Then I make my plans for the year ahead. I repeat this process every year, along with reviewing the previous year. Keeping our goals in front of us is important, but taking time to review where we've been and the lessons we've learned along the way, gives us a lot more power to navigate the road ahead with the best Tulsa Personal Trainer. As Socrates said in a speech at his trial, "The unexamined life is not worth living." So grab a pen and paper, and let's walk through 3 questions that will guide you through performing your own annual review. 1. Name your top 3 achievements of last year. (These don't have to be health or fitness related) 2. What was your biggest failure last year? What have you learned from it? We learn more from our failures than from our successes. And always remember "failure is just an event, not a person that you could use for a Tulsa Personal Trainer" 3. Name 3 things you'd like to achieve this year. Why are they important to you? What would achieving each of them mean to you? Getting clear on your "why" will provide the drive you need to push forward in reaching your goals and fulfilling your dreams. An annual review should encompass many areas of our lives: fitness, health, relationships, sports performance, finances, career, you-name-it... taking time to review and assess will give you newfound perspective and understanding. And that's strong fuel to powering you through the year ahead with your best Tulsa Personal Trainer! Let's make this your best yet! Clint Howard, your Tulsa personal training expert Nutrition Tip- 10 Great Protein Sources Kara just called to tell me to stop by and get some lettuce and veggies from Reasor's on the way home this evening from TFS as we're having "healthy" chicken fajitas for family dinner tonight. Yum! And so I was just now thinking I'd send you out some good nutrition info today regarding this. We know grilled chicken is a great lean protein source and I love me some grilled chicken as much as the next person! But do you ever get tired of eating the same ol' boring grilled chicken breasts day after day? I sometimes do! I want to share with you 10 of my top protein sources (other than chicken) that are sure to add some much-needed variety into your weekly meal planning with great Tulsa Personal Trainer solutions. So here they are, in no particular order: 1. Eggs - Eat the whole egg, not just the white. The yolk is actually the most nutrient dense portion of the egg, providing a ton of vitamins and minerals and essential amino acids. 2. Shrimp - Grill 'em or sautee them in some organic butter or extra virgin olive oil, or eat cold with a little cocktail sauce. I LOVE shrimp! 3. Salmon - An awesome fatty fish containing loads of protein and a healthy dose of healthy omega-3 fatty acids. 4. Greek Yogurt - Greek yogurt packs twice the protein of regular yogurt and much less sugar. Go with the plain variety and sweeten with a packet of stevia or truvia or fruit, if you'd like. 5. Ground Turkey - Super lean and great for things like chili or burger patties. 6. Pork - The "other" white meat, just as lean as chicken when you get the right cut. Go for the boneless chops. 7. Chicken Sausage - You probably won't notice the difference between chicken sausage and "regular" pork sausage, but it contains much less fat and less greasy. 8. Beans - Like black beans, kidney beans, red beans, navy beans, black eyed peas, and lentils. These are all actually the least expensive protein source in America. They are low glycemic and very high in fiber and also contain a good amount of protein. 9. Bison - Taste great, very lean, and high in protein! 10. Grass-fed Beef - Grass fed beef is rich in CLA, a special fat that has actually been shown to result in more fat loss than eating regular beef. Grass-fed beef is naturally leaner than grain-fed beef and is loaded with natural minerals and vitamins. Alright, you might be getting hungry now like I am so make sure you're getting plenty of lean, healthy protein in your diet and always let me know with questions on anything that use a great Tulsa Personal Trainer!
