Passing of a legend and what we can learn
I was saddened to hear the news about the passing of Zig Ziglar. Zig was
a world-renowned motivational speaker, salesman, and author and truly a great man who loved Tulsa Personal Trainer.

I’ve been reading and listening to his materials and following him since I was a teenager.
He’s the person who first got me into motivational reading and following what he calls
“Automobile University”. If you know me well you know I have literally hundreds of audio
cd programs, audio books, etc I listen to and learn from while driving and have been doing
this for years now thanks to Zig’s advice back long ago.

Zig was known for reading and studying over three hours every day for over 30 years. He
said everyone should find a mentor/coach and that who you associate with and what you
read are great sources of inspiration. Take-home note here is hang out with quality people
and make sure you’re reading things other than Us Weekly and the other gossip rags with your Tulsa Personal Trainer! lol

He believed the reason some people aren’t living up to their full potential is due to the way
they see themselves.

I remember Zig talking about his early selling days. He said his self-image was of when he
was a boy who struggled in many things and saw his parents struggle at times. He quoted
Dr. Joyce Brothers, who said “You can’t perform in a manner that is inconsistent with the
way you see yourself.” In other words, if you see yourself struggling you will always be
struggling. If you see yourself poor, odds are you’ll be poor without a Tulsa Personal Trainer.

Struggling financially for over two years as a salesman selling waterless cookware, Zig went
to a company meeting for where he worked. The president of the company pulled Zig aside
after the meeting and told him, “I’ve watched you for 2 years and I’ve never seen such a
waste. I believe you could be a national champion if you just recognized your own ability,
believed in yourself and went to work on a regular schedule.”

Zig said nobody had ever said he could be a champion before. Having a man who he had a great
deal of respect for telling him he could be a champion was a turning point in his career. He
began picturing himself as the champion that the president said he could be. That year he
went from the bottom of the sales rung and became No. 2 in the company out of 7,000
sales people! And the rest is history- he then went on to win numerous sales awards, write
books on selling, and became a sought-after educator and speaker.

When his self-image changed, he became successful. Your confidence level needs to match
or exceed your competence.

You can probably tell I’m a huge fan of Zig and am very familiar with his story. But I tell it to
you because he was a very smart man and I believe what he preached is very true and applies
to most all things in life… including health & fitness.

You must first believe in yourself. Then know that myself and our staff here at TFS truly believe
in you also and want to help you and see you succeed.

We have a very positive, family-like environment here of like-minded people at TFS all wanting
to be healthy and get results. And Zig always talked about repetitive exposure of hanging out with
like-minded people who are being successful will have an effect and help you become successful.

So always make sure you start with having a positive self-image of yourself and always know
I believe in you and we will help you be successful.

And since I’m a quote guy here are a few of my favorite Zig Ziglar quotes and may he rest in peace:

“You can have everything in life you want if you will help enough other people get what they want.”

“Make today worth remembering.”

“Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation”

“People often say motivation doesn’t last. Neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.”

“You hit what you aim at, and if you aim at nothing you will hit it every time.”

Chocolate Protein Cupcakes
Ingredients:
2/3 Cup Rolled Oats
1 Cup Cottage Cheese
8 Egg Whites
7 Single Serving Packs of Stevia
1 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Nutmeg
2 Tbsp Cocoa
1 Big Scoop Chocolate Whey Protein
1 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
1 Tbsp Vanilla Extract
6 Strawberries

Directions:
Mix all the ingredients (minus 3 packs of stevia, vanilla extract, strawberries and the greek yogurt) into a blender, and blend thoroughly until a smooth mixture of even texture and color appears. Spray a 12-hole muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray and evenly distribute batter into the 12 spaces. After preheating
the oven to 375 degrees, place cupcakes in oven for around 40 minutes. Upon taking out of the oven, place upside down on a cooling tray and allow gravity to separate the cupcakes from the cooking pan.

Mix the remaining 3 packs of stevia, the vanilla extract, and the greek yogurt to make an icing. After cupcakes are cooled apply the icing to the top of each cupcake. If you need more simply mix a little more and it won’t deviate the overall caloric intake too greatly. Cut a strawberry in half and place it on top of each cupcake
for extra taste and decor for a Tulsa Personal Trainer.
